Melissa Baysingar has been an Instructional Design Specialist in the Academy for Teaching Excellence at Harper College in Palatine, IL since 2016. Prior to her time at Harper, she worked in auditing and was a full-time accounting instructor in the Wisconsin Technical College system. She has an MBA from UW-Oshkosh and a M.S. in Instructional Design & Technology from Western Illinois University. In her role at Harper College, she has the privilege of working with faculty on course design, activities, and assessment in a variety of modalities, as well as leading workshops and working on large faculty and staff events. Making use of easy and effective engagement and assessment tools like GoReact plays a large role in her daily work with faculty and staff.
Jeff Przybylo is in his 28th year as a professor of Communication Arts at Harper Community College (Palatine, Illinois). Jeff is the director of the speech and debate program at Harper. He has served as chairperson of the department and most recently spent two semesters as the interim Dean of Liberal Arts. Jeff is a Past President of the Illinois Communication Association and Past President of the national Community College Speech and Debate Association, Phi Rho Pi (9 years). Jeff has worked with GoReact since its inception. His work with faculty across the country has helped professors to integrate the latest technologies such as adaptive learning, online assessment, and speech capture, into their communication classrooms. Jeff has been at the forefront of the movement to bring technology into the communication classroom. He has been recording student speeches for analysis since his first day in the classroom and has enthusiastically embraced the online learning movement. Throughout his career, he’s seen the basic speech course as an opportunity to not only teach basic public speaking skills but to engage students in technology, leadership, teamwork, and peer coaching. His goal as a professor of communication has always been to be innovative in the classroom. He aims to shed the image of the professor as “sage on the stage” and instead act a “coach” who develops strategies to encourage students to get actively involved in their education.
Carol Carlson-Nofsinger is an Associate Professor and the Coordinator of Legal Studies at Harper College. Carol practiced in the areas of real estate law (including zoning), corporate law, employment law, and contract law for 28 years. Carol retired from the practice of law in 2014 when she obtained a Lecturer Position, which she held for 4 years, at the College of DuPage. She has taught, as an adjunct instructor, a variety of subjects to paralegals in three different ABA approved Paralegal Studies Programs, since 1986, including at Roosevelt University, College of DuPage, and Harper College. Carol is also an Illinois Licensed Real Estate Pre-Licensure Instructor who has taught Real Estate Broker Pre-License classes for over 20 years. She co-authored Illinois Proficiency Exam Prep: Broker to Managing Broker, 1st Edition and also Illinois Proficiency Exam Prep: Salesperson to Broker, 1st Edition for Dearborn Real Estate Education. Carol has reviewed and contributed materials to the textbook used in the real estate courses here at Harper College called Modern Real Estate Practice in Illinois by Galaty, Allaway, and Kyle. Carol has reviewed and written online real estate courses for two national course providers. She received her B.A. from Elmhurst College and a J.D. from Loyola University of Chicago School of Law.
Adrian is employed at Harper College as an adjunct professor in the Kinesiology Department and also works as the Director of Fitness Programming – Memory Care at the Garlands, located in Barrington, Illinois and has over 25 years of employment in the fitness industry. Adrian is currently a doctoral student at Concordia University in the field of Kinesiology and holds a Master's Degree in Exercise Science from Austin Peay State University and a Master's in Business Administration from Lake Forest Graduate School of Management. His undergraduate work was completed at the University of Wisconsin at Whitewater, with his internship completed at the University of Arizona. Adrian utilized Go React as a solution for the laboratory portion for the courses he teaches.
Charlotte Schulze-Hewett is an Associate Professor of Mathematics at Harper College, where she teaches a variety of courses including College Algebra, Precalculus, Calculus, Statistics, and Mathematics for Elementary Education Majors. Since transitioning to online teaching in March 2020, she has primarily taught in this format, adapting her methods to effectively engage students remotely. Before joining Harper College, Charlotte taught at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) and the University of Wisconsin Colleges, Rock County campus. She holds two M.S. degrees from UIC, one in Pure Mathematics and another in Mathematical Computer Science. In addition to her teaching, Charlotte has ventured into collaborative research with her family, co- authoring a mathematics paper with her 10-year-old son. They are currently working on a second collaborative project.
