About the Session

Traditional learning methods in language are typically based on a memorize/response method. In ASL, an instructor will use the language in front of the class, and students will write down the response focusing on receptive skills while neglecting performance skills. In this presentation, we’ll discuss my method of using stimulus assignments where students are asked to respond to my open ended questions using the ASL they’ve learned to encourage language competency and growth in both their receptive and expressive skills.
